The CULEBRA PAINTINGS are a hugely popular series created during Marsha's 2006 & 2007 residencies on the Caribbean island of Culebra.
These high-energy paintings are in a style that uses symbolism, color and texture to represent time, place, person and emotion.

Marsha Bailey enjoyed summer-long, incredibly productive residencies on the Caribbean island of Culebra in 2006 & 2007. Culebra is a special place between Puerto Rico and St. Thomas, USVI. During these summers she created a whole new style of painting using oil pastel and acrylic paint on unstretched canvas. They are representations of time, place, person and emotion.
Some will say that Marsha's paintings and assemblages are like saxaphone solos and a trumpet solos played by the same great musician: two expressions of the same heart.
There are several more Culebra Paintings, so see the rest in person at a gallery exhibition or in the studio.
