A Meeting on the Nile in Cairo In November 2007 David attended a business meeting in Cairo. One of the companies with which he is working is a large Egyptian firm that happens to own a restaurant with meeting rooms that happens to be a floating barge on the Nile in the heart of Cairo. We kept the shades drawn in the meeting room because otherwise no one would get any work done - engineers can be distracted by exquisite views even when discussing exciting technical issues. There was continual water traffic - solo rowers, motor boats full of cheerful families, big Nile Boat Tours with multiple decks and party lights and a few relatively small commercial transport barges. All of the high-rise buildings in the panorama/cityscape photos are hotels. Click on the thumbnail photos below to see a larger version in a new window.
