Nile Ferry - Fishing Village

"Fishing Village" is a misnomer if it brings to your mind images of thatched huts and dug-out canoes. This is a village with six-story apartment buildings made from reinforced concrete. I say fishing village because fishing is what most of the village residents do and it is the reason the village is here and has been here for a long, long, long time. This village (and Damietta, which is just up river) have been here for thousands of years - like, since the dawn of human civilization. Remember that humankind (Lucy) started in Africa and first  developed plant cultivation and proto-civilizations along the Niger, Congo and Nile River valleys. So, has this fishing village been here for 8,000 years - or longer?
