Istanbul - Bosphorus Ferry Trip

On the Bosphorus -
from Istanbul to  the Black Sea

An adventure and a surprise on the Bosphorus, it was a full-day journey with rewards all along the way.

The 19th Century palaces from the bitter end of the Ottoman Empire were gaudy and spectacular.

The two suspension bridges are new [late 20th Century] and connect Asia and Europe with dramatic spans over the Bosphorus.

One of our favorites views was the Rumeli Hisari fortress. It was built in only 4 months by the army of the infant Ottoman Empire before raising their flag, finally, over Constantinople in 1452 AD.

The best of all was the fortress high on the hill above the village of Anadolu Kavagi. The fortress was built in 1350 and has "medieval castle" written all over it and has a stunning view of the Black Sea on a clear day.
