Oman - Port Sultan Qaboos

These are photos of the port hub of Oman.

There is an old fishmarket with a small beach for the fishing boats to land and then display the catch of the day for hundreds of buyers to select from each morning.

Then there is the modern port with accomodation for containers, vehicles and grain and a modern entry and exit gate for controls.

The port also has huge docking facilities for the Sultans newest yacht, the giant tan vessel that looks like a small cruise liner in the center of the harbor.

David stayed at the Marina Hotel, right across the street from the fish market and modern port and close to the corniche. It was a convenient location with a roof-top restaurant with a small seating area with a view of it all - a great location.

The village has grown and up-graded in the last ten years, but is constrained by the rock mountains springing up all around and this makes for a wondrous vista from the Marina hotel.
