The MEMORY PAINTINGS shown below are works on canvas. These paintings are all from the hugely popular series created during Marsha's 2006 & 2007 residencies on the tropical island of Culebra. Not surprisingly, this series is called The Culebra Paintings.
Memory Painting is a style Marsha is currently evolving. It uses symbolism, color and texture to represent time, place, person and emotion.

Marsha Bailey enjoyed summer-long, incredibly productive residencies on the Caribbean island of Culebra in 2006 & 2007. Culebra is a special place between Puerto Rico and St. Thomas, USVI. During these summers she created a whole new style of painting that she calls Memory Painting using oil pastel and acrylic paint on unstretched canvas. They are representations of time, place, person and emotion.
Some will say that Marsha's Memory Paintings and her assemblages are like a saxaphone and a trumpet alternately played by the same great musician: two instruments expressing the same heart.
There are over twenty Memory Paintings, so see the rest in person at an art gallery or in the studio.
